THE WEEKLY RAVEN // WEEK 8 RECAP // NOVEMBER 3, 2026
WINTER IS COMING. THE SEWER IS ALREADY FROZEN.
The Giant slays the Night King. The Dragon devours Herm. The Sewer turns to Scripture.
The Giant slays the Night King. The Dragon devours Herm. And the ACT Study Group turns to Scripture.
Eight weeks into Shy City, the kingdom has a new championship favorite. His name is BDR.
Picnic Rick, the Giant of the Boundary Waters, has done what few believed possible: he defeated the Night King himself. Gator is 6–2, commands a 41.55% chance of claiming the Belt, and appears ready to retreat north to his cabin, crack open a non-alcoholic Busch Light, and spend the winter watching the rest of the league destroy itself.
Behind him, five houses sit at 5–3: Preach, Beans, Drag, Chabby, and Tres. Five managers. A crowded playoff race. An extraordinary amount of false confidence.
And below them? The Sewer has become a legitimate public health concern. Bug is 2–6. Herm is 2–6. Houle is 1–7. Between them there are five wins, a growing collection of excuses, and increasingly serious conversations about the ACT.
Halloween has ended. The horror has not.
🐊 THE GIANT SLAYS THE NIGHT KING
GATOR 165.42 — BEANS 116.38
The Night King arrived at Week 8 as the most feared man in Shy City. Five wins. A 37.51% championship probability. A 178.40-point performance the week before. Winter was coming.
Unfortunately for Beans, so was Picnic Rick.
The Giant of the Boundary Waters emerged from the North Shore Docks, set down his non-alcoholic Busch Light, and beat the Night King by 49.04 points. Gator delivered 165.42 points, climbed to 6–2, and seized control of the Belt race.
Jahmyr Gibbs supplied 23.80 points. Jordan Love delivered 21.52. Even with injury concerns, the Giant had more than enough firepower to defeat the army of the dead. Beans managed just 116.38.
| BELT ODDS | BEFORE WEEK 8 | AFTER WEEK 8 | SWING |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gator | 25.71% | 41.55% | +15.84 pp |
| Beans | 37.51% | 8.53% | −28.98 pp |
In one afternoon, Beans went from commanding the White Walkers to wondering whether the Wall was still covered by his homeowner’s insurance. Perhaps fatherhood caught up with him. Perhaps the bye week exposed a weakness. Or perhaps even the Night King underestimated a man who counts his docks every morning and fishes with his bare hands.
Somewhere north of the Wall, Picnic Rick is loading his Raffle ATV, putting the non-alcoholic Busch Lights on ice, and preparing to hunker down for winter.
The Night King brought the army of the dead. Picnic Rick brought 165.42 points and sent the bastard back beyond the Wall.
🐉 DRAG ENDS HERM
DRAG 168.40 — HERM 73.10

There are fantasy football losses. There are humiliations. And then there’s what Drag did to Herm. 168.40 to 73.10. A 95.30-point massacre. The largest margin of victory in Shy City this week.
But the most remarkable part is that Herm apparently saw it coming. In a moment of extraordinary self-awareness, Herman Boone offered this assessment of the matchup: “Put it in my mouth, Drag.” The Dragon obliged.
Herm had spent the week preparing for the Bryce Young–Jalen Coker Experience. He couldn’t wait to buckle up Thursday night and watch his favorite Carolina connection go to work. And Coker actually delivered a touchdown. For a few glorious moments, Herman Boone looked like a prophet.
Coker found the end zone. Herm’s team imploded.
Brock Bowers contributed 24.70 points. Coker added 8.60. Unfortunately, Lamar Jackson returned from injury only to injure his right thumb after a single offensive snap. Zero fantasy points. Surgery and injured reserve are expected; his absence could extend through the remainder of the season.
Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes contributed 25.44, Ja’Marr Chase added 25.60, and Drag assembled a league-leading 168.40. Drag moves to 5–3, with Belt odds rising from 2.96% to 17.38%. Herm falls to 2–6, with a 61.91% ACT probability.
Perhaps it’s finally time for Herman Boone to return to the drawing board. This isn’t unfamiliar territory: Herm has endured one-win and two-win seasons before. The problem is that the next season keeps looking suspiciously like the last one.
At some point, Herman Boone has to stop drawing inspirational halftime speeches and start drawing up a functioning fantasy roster. PreachBot had identified Herm +5.5 as a potential Direwolf. Drag won by 95.30.
The Dragon has spoken. Herman Boone is back at the drawing board. And the ACT has already begun sharpening its pencils.
🐍 THE KING OF THE WITCHING HOUR ESCAPES
TRES 125.38 — HOULE 124.74
Sixty-four hundredths of a point. That’s all that separated the King of the Witching Hour from joining Houle in the basement.
Tres started 0–2. He was chained to the Sewer Dweller pillory, labeled a League Donator, and publicly ridiculed by a publication that may now need to issue several corrections. Since then? Four consecutive victories.
But Sunday wasn’t a coronation. It was an escape. Houle, fresh off scoring 68.40 the previous week, suddenly remembered how fantasy football worked and produced 124.74. Almost enough. Tres survived by 0.64.
There is a certain poetic cruelty to a golf enthusiast losing his fantasy matchup by less than one point to a man already photographed teeing off with his face as the golf ball.
Houle falls to 1–7 with a 0.02% modeled playoff probability. His 2027 first-round pick remains in Bru’s possession. Tres is 5–3 with four straight wins.
The Witching Hour King lives. Houle remains the only man in Shy City who can score 68 one week, 124 the next, and lose both.
🐻 BRU SUMMONS THE THIRD-STRING DEMONS
BRU 155.04 — PREACH 133.94
Preach entered Week 8 at 5–2, fresh off a destination wedding. Herm spent the week investigating the commissioner’s alleged post-wedding clarity. Apparently, the investigation missed Louisiana voodoo.
Bru entered with Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, accompanied by a running back room seemingly recruited from the final ten minutes of an NFL preseason game. Third-stringers. Emergency spot starts. Players who may still need directions to the stadium.
It did not matter. Joe Burrow scored 39.48. Josh Allen added 26.56. That’s 66.04 points from two quarterbacks. Bru could have started two traffic cones at running back and still had a chance.
The Revolution didn’t lose because everybody played poorly. Wagon Ward arrived. Cam Ward delivered 26.26 points, more than double his season average. Bhayshul Tuten exploded for 28.90.
Unfortunately, DK Metcalf apparently never left the barracks. Six targets. One catch. Four yards. 0.90 fantasy points. Preach scored 133.94 despite DK’s disappearing act.
Bru improves to 4–4 and 57.84% modeled playoff odds. Preach falls to 5–3, with Belt probability slipping to 14.38%.
Sometimes the best fantasy strategy is starting Josh Allen and Joe Burrow and letting the dark arts handle everything else.
🐒 CHABBY CONTINUES THE TITLE DEFENSE
CHABBY 163.64 — BUG 122.02
Bug has spent much of the season reminding Shy City that he is the DraftMasta. A visionary. A talent evaluator. A man capable of seeing things other managers cannot. Unfortunately, the one thing he apparently cannot see is a path to three wins.
Chabby delivered 163.64 points and won by 41.62. The defending champion didn’t even require a big performance from Bijan Robinson, who managed just 7.60. The rest of the lineup delivered. Bug got 21.40 from Chase Brown, but not nearly enough.
Bug falls to 2–6, with four straight losses. His playoff odds are 3.02%; ACT odds, 10.80%. Much like his hero, University of Texas quarterback Arch Manning, this season has not gone according to plan. The expectations were enormous. The confidence was unlimited. The results? A lot of questions and not nearly enough touchdowns.
Unlike college football, there is no transfer portal available to save Bug’s season. The DraftMasta has officially entered FIRE SALE territory. Veterans should be available. Future draft picks should be welcomed. Contenders should be calling.
Chabby is 5–3, defending his championship, and continues finding ways to win despite season-long investigations into his lineup efficiency.
Bug calls himself the DraftMasta. At 2–6, the only thing he’s mastered is scouting players for somebody else’s championship run.
⚖️ THE PROPAGANDA HEARINGS
The most significant crisis in Shy City began with a factual error. The Raven referenced a nonexistent dynasty trade deadline. BDR demanded answers. Houle confirmed there was no deadline. Rosy renamed the machine PropagandaBot and offered an anatomical suggestion. Herm felt personally attacked.
The ACT Study Group had suddenly transformed into a congressional oversight committee.
For the record: Shy City Bros has no trade deadline. Managers can trade throughout the season, including the championship game. The NFL has a trade deadline; Shy City does not.
The Raven acknowledges its error. It does not acknowledge the standings as propaganda—particularly Herm’s 2–6 record and 61.91% ACT probability.
📖 THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH: SEWER SCRIPTURES
The ACT Study Group has abandoned conventional fantasy analysis. Herm is reading the Book of Jeremiah, presumably looking for guidance on surviving another season in the Sewer. Bug has taken another approach: public confession.
After Herm questioned how terrible Bug’s team had become, the DraftMasta described himself as a “good for nothing low life,” then questioned whether he was a “sand bagging imbecile.” Bru, baffled by Bug’s projections, demanded answers.
The DraftMasta has gone from promising championships to conducting a full character assassination of himself.
Herm is looking for salvation in the Bible. Bug is looking for it in the 2027 rookie draft. Neither has found a functioning fantasy football team.
👑 THE IRON THRONE: FIVE HOUSES AT THE GATES
Gator stands alone at 6–2. Behind him, five teams are 5–3. Every manager believes one good Sunday could put him back in the Belt race. The updated November 3 Iron Throne model tells a more selective story.
| HOUSE | RECORD | BELT | WEEKLY CHANGE |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gator | 6–2 | 41.55% | +15.84 pp |
| Drag | 5–3 | 17.38% | +14.42 pp |
| Preach | 5–3 | 14.38% | −2.96 pp |
| Chabby | 5–3 | 10.67% | +2.92 pp |
| Beans | 5–3 | 8.53% | −28.98 pp |
| Bru | 4–4 | 3.75% | +3.37 pp |
| Tres | 5–3 | 3.64% | −3.82 pp |
The Night King has fallen from his perch, but 8.53% isn’t zero. Chabby is defending his crown. Tres keeps winning without convincing the model. Drag’s massive Week 8 performance made him the second-favorite.
Bru has a legitimate postseason route. Bug has a 3.02% playoff probability. Houle has 0.02%. Herm’s model shows 0.00%. Model percentages are estimates, not declarations of mathematical elimination.
🚽 THE SEWER: ACT PREPARATION BEGINS
THE BOTTOM THREE ACCOUNT FOR 93.92% OF ACT PROBABILITY
| HOUSE | RECORD | ACT CHANCE |
|---|---|---|
| Herm | 2–6 | 61.91% |
| Houle | 1–7 | 21.21% |
| Bug | 2–6 | 10.80% |
| Bru | 4–4 | 2.56% |
| Tres | 5–3 | 2.24% |
This is no longer a ten-man race. It is a three-man academic intervention.
Herm needs a new plan after a 73.10-point disaster. Houle is 1–7 and doesn’t control his 2027 first. Bug has more talent than his record suggests, but four consecutive losses have pushed him toward selling veterans.
The NFL trade deadline can still change player values and depth charts across Shy City. There is no Shy City transaction deadline. These managers can trade today, tomorrow, or during the championship game. The only thing expiring is their opportunity to turn this season around.
🤖 PREACHBOT RECEIPTS: THE MACHINE GETS EXPOSED
PreachBot entered Week 8 at 25–10 straight up and 19–16 against the spread. It correctly picked Gator, Tres, Drag and Chabby, and incorrectly picked Preach. Week 8: 4–1 SU.
Against the spread? An unmitigated disaster.
| WEEK 8 PICK | RESULT |
|---|---|
| Beans +2.5 | LOSS |
| Tres −15.5 | LOSS |
| Preach −10.5 | LOSS |
| Herm +5.5 | LOSS |
| Bug +6.5 | LOSS |
Season: 29–11 SU (72.5%) · 19–21 ATS (47.5%). The 0–5 Week 8 ATS result grades the published provisional FTSB board. Herm +5.5 was a Direwolf candidate, not formally locked; the confirmed Direwolf ledger remains 4–2.
Rosy may have called it PropagandaBot. For one Sunday, the spread picks certainly gave him evidence. PreachBot respectfully notes that its straight-up record remains better than Herm’s winning percentage.
🦇 THE FINAL WORD
BDR has taken the throne and is preparing for winter. Drag has devoured Herm. Beans has been knocked from his perch. Preach has been cursed by Louisiana. Chabby is defending his crown. Tres escaped the Sewer by sixty-four hundredths of a point.
Bru is winning with players even their own coaches barely recognize. Bug is running out of chances. Houle is running out of reasons to hold his veterans.
And Herm? Herm asked Drag to put it in his mouth. The Dragon delivered 168.40 points.
The Iron Throne is contested. The Sewer is occupied. The ACT study guides are being distributed.
The Raven has spoken.
