FTSB // WEEK 6

GATOR -1.5  |  DRAG -8.5  |  CHABBY -18.5  |  BEANS -24.5  |  TRES -7.5

Weekly Raven Week 5 cover: Battle of the Dream Team

Week 4 gave Shy City parity.

Week 5 gives it delusion.

Four teams sit at 3–1. Two sit at 2–2. Four sit at 1–3. Nobody is dead. Nobody believes they’re bad. Every manager can still build a case for the playoffs, which means this is approximately the point in the season where everyone becomes dangerous enough to talk themselves into something stupid.

The injuries are everywhere. The waiver wire got picked through. Philadelphia is ripping structural beams out of its offense while Jalen Hurts is still living upstairs. And Preach will be in New Orleans this weekend to watch the 4–0 Vikings try to make it five.

The league itself has been unusually quiet. BDR still owes the realm his first presser. Drag had a birthday. And Preach intends to celebrate it by handing out birthday spankings.

Welcome to the Battle of the Dream Team.

🇺🇸 PREACH vs DRAG

THE BATTLE OF THE DREAM TEAM

FTSB: Preach -8.5 · SU: Preach · ATS: Preach -8.5

Forget the standings for a second. Preach and Drag grew up best friends and have long considered themselves the Dream Team.

This week, the Dream Team splits.

Think Charles Barkley vs. John Stockton. Pick whichever one you think would be more offended by that comparison.

Drag enters 3–1, fresh off ending BDR’s undefeated season and cashing the Direwolf outright. He’s also fresh off a birthday.

So naturally, Preach’s gift is simple:

Birthday spankings. Belt to ass.

Unfortunately for Drag, Kansas City’s bye takes Mahomes and Kelce off the board, while Ja’Marr Chase remains the biggest injury variable in this matchup. Preach has his own problems.

Lane Johnson retired Tuesday. Philadelphia agreed Wednesday to trade Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens to Baltimore. New starting center Drew Kendall then missed Wednesday practice with a knee injury. DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley both missed practice with hamstring injuries.

Calling Philadelphia a wholesale liquidation is slightly dramatic.

Slightly.

Hurts’ protection gets shakier. DeVonta is already compromised. What looked like a premium Eagles stack suddenly carries a lot more downside than it did two weeks ago.

Still: Drag’s birthday was yesterday. The Belt is already out.

Happy birthday, brother. Bend over.

🐊 BDR vs BUG

PRESSER WATCH CONTINUES

FTSB: BDR -4.5 · SU: BDR · ATS: BDR -4.5

BDR finally lost. The league immediately requested comment. His response was that he wanted to puke for ten straight minutes and upload it publicly to YouTube.

Excellent.

Unfortunately, that was not the presser. So we remain on BDR PRESSER WATCH for his first official appearance of the season.

Gator still sits 3–1, but this matchup is not clean. Malik Nabers remains an important knee watch. Bug has his own roster stress with bye weeks and Saquon’s hamstring.

This feels like the kind of game where the winner announces that everything is fine and the loser immediately starts offering three-for-three trade packages to half the league.

Which makes BDR extremely dangerous. Nobody in Shy City experiences dopamine quite like Gator hovering over the Accept Trade button.

👶 BEANS vs CHABBY

UNCLE DUTY STARTS EARLY

FTSB: Beans -5.5 · SU: Beans · ATS: Chabby +5.5

🐺 DIREWOLF OF THE WEEK: CHABBY +5.5

Beans entered fatherhood and apparently became more powerful. 188.92. Then 173.02.

Baby Cal has arrived. Twenty toes are up. Beans is 3–1 and still owns one of the league’s strongest teams.

Chabby finally looks alive again. After the September injury apocalypse, he dropped 162.88 on his former college roommate and returned to .500.

Now he gets Beans. Which gives us a future-family angle: Chabby is eventually going to be Uncle Chabby to Baby Cal.

A good uncle teaches lessons. A bad uncle gives you cash at Christmas. A truly elite uncle ruins your father’s fantasy week.

Beans should be favored, but this has exactly the profile PreachBot likes for a Direwolf: strong roster, improving opponent, and enough uncertainty to make the favorite uncomfortable.

⚖️ HERM vs TRES

SOMEONE HAS TO LEAVE 1–3

FTSB: Tres -5.5 · SU: Tres · ATS: Herm +5.5

Herm has explained his roster philosophy clearly. He is not tanking forever. He is rebuilding aggressively, trying to get younger quickly, collecting future capital, and moving aging veterans before the value disappears.

He also hates losing.

That distinction becomes increasingly important when you’re 1–3. Herm still maintains that his only regrettable trade is Derrick Henry to Preach, which becomes funnier every week Henry remains useful.

Now he gets Tres, also 1–3. This isn’t quite an elimination game. But the loser enters Week 6 at 1–4, and at some point an aggressive rebuild begins to look suspiciously like a father of three just trying to feed his family while Dinner with Schmucks slowly adds another chair.

🚛 BRU vs HOULE

THE BIG RIG VICTORY TOUR

FTSB: Bru -7.5 · SU: Bru · ATS: Houle +7.5

Houle did the impossible last week. He beat Preach. Then, within hours, began asking whether his ceiling was a championship.

This league desperately needs that kind of confidence.

The Iron Throne currently believes his ceiling is somewhat lower.

Still, the Big Rig has officially exited the land of the winless, which means every 1–3 manager can now point at the standings and say: “See? Nobody is out.”

Bru enters the same record and has the better top-end quarterback situation, but injuries continue to muddy his roster. Houle also loses Tetairoa McMillan to bye, which is not ideal considering Tet just spent last week helping ruin PreachBot’s dignity.

Bru wins. Houle covers. The restaurant keeps the reservation open.

🚑 INJURY WEEK

Week 5 may be less about who has the best roster and more about who still has a functioning roster by Sunday morning.

  • Preach: DeVonta Smith missed Wednesday with a hamstring. Ladd McConkey missed with a foot injury. Tyler Shough was limited. Philadelphia’s offensive-line upheaval lowers the floor around Hurts.
  • Drag: Ja’Marr Chase remains the biggest swing piece. If he clears concussion protocol, Drag has a path. If not, this line gets uglier.
  • BDR: Malik Nabers’ knee remains the major watch.
  • Bru: Justin Jefferson was limited Wednesday with an ankle issue; Jordan Addison did not practice with a hamstring.
  • Bug: Saquon Barkley missed Wednesday practice with a hamstring injury.
  • Herm: Lamar Jackson remains the situation that matters most.

This card remains provisional until Friday. PreachBot is not going to pretend uncertain players are settled just because Sleeper gives them a colored letter.

🤖 PREACHBOT RECEIPTS

Week 4: 3–2 SU · 3–2 ATS · 1–0 Direwolf
Season: 14–6 SU · 11–9 ATS · 2–2 Direwolf

PreachBot correctly unleashed Drag +4.5 last week. Drag won outright.

PreachBot also made Preach a 24.5-point favorite over Houle.

We have agreed internally that these two events mostly cancel each other out.

Houle has not agreed.

👑 THE STATE OF THE REALM

The defining fact entering Week 5 is not dominance. It’s parity.

Four teams at 3–1. Two at 2–2. Four at 1–3.

Nobody can claim separation anymore. Nobody gets to claim the season is over either.

And this weekend Preach will be sitting inside the Superdome, watching a 4–0 Vikings team try to make it five while also checking his phone to see whether his childhood best friend is receiving the appropriate number of birthday spankings.

THE DREAM TEAM WAS BUILT TO CONQUER THE WORLD.

This week? One of us has to get his ass kicked.
