Week 4 gave Shy City parity.
Week 5 finally started sorting people into neighborhoods.
Two teams are now 4–1. Three sit at 3–2. Three more are 2–3.
And then there is Herm and Houle.
1–4.
The season is not over. But the basement now has tenants.
BDR rose from the puke bucket and dropped 200. Chabby stole one by four one-hundredths of a point and immediately discovered the confidence of a man who believes he is now Baby Cal’s favorite uncle. Preach went to New Orleans, made decisions with his heart, and watched Brian Flores personally ruin Tyler Shough in front of him.
The middle remains crowded.
The bottom suddenly feels much colder.
🐊 BDR 203.52 — BUG 132.86
THE PUKE BUCKET WAS A REJUVENATION CHAMBER
Last week, BDR lost for the first time and responded by filming himself vomiting into a bucket inside The House That Randy Built.
Apparently that was medicinal.
Gator came back in Week 5 and dropped 203.52 points, the highest score of the week, beating Bug by 70.66.
One week he was dry-heaving on camera.
The next week he was committing fantasy homicide.
BDR is now 4–1, fully recovered, and sitting at the top of the standings with Drag.
Maybe the presser worked.
Maybe puking was the cleanse this roster needed.
Either way, anyone who mocked the bucket now has to deal with the fact that Gator just posted the first 200-point performance of the season.
And unfortunately for Preach, that monster walks directly into his schedule next.
Week 6: BDR vs Preach
Fantastic.
🐉 DRAG 181.06 — PREACH 125.90
THE DREAM TEAM ENDS IN A BIRTHDAY BEATING
The Week 5 cover promised birthday spankings.
It just got the recipient wrong.
Drag walked into his birthday matchup against his childhood best friend and beat Preach by 55.16 points.
Preach had excuses available.
He was live in New Orleans for Vikings–Saints. He wanted to see Shough in the flesh. He wanted the Vikings to stay undefeated. He wanted to experience football.
Unfortunately, he also wanted Tyler Shough in his fantasy lineup.
Brian Flores disagreed.
Shough finished with 96 passing yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions, producing one of the ugliest fantasy performances imaginable.
Preach got to see Shough’s beautiful balls live.
Flores immediately took them away.
There were other questionable roster decisions too, but this one deserves the spotlight because it came with witnesses.
PreachBot spends every week analyzing everyone else’s decisions.
Week 5 proved the operator is still capable of ignoring the machine and making one with his heart.
Drag did not care.
The Dream Team split.
Drag left 4–1.
Preach left 3–2 and a little less romantic about live football.
👶 CHABBY 147.24 — BEANS 147.20
UNCLE CHABBY WINS BY A ROUNDING ERROR
This was disgusting.
Beans and Chabby entered Monday night separated by essentially nothing, with James Cook and Puka Nacua settling the matter in Bills–Rams.
Cook fought.
Puka went insane.
17 catches. 138 yards. A touchdown.
And when the dust settled:
Chabby 147.24.
Beans 147.20.
Four one-hundredths.
Not four points.
Not four tenths.
0.04.
Uncle Chabby did not win Week 5.
He inherited it.
After spending September watching his roster get dragged through an injury apocalypse, Chabby is now 3–2, alive, talking shit, and increasingly committed to his new role as the league’s favorite uncle.
Baby Cal has been alive for approximately five minutes and Chabby is already trying to establish household hierarchy.
A good uncle brings gifts.
A great uncle spoils the kid.
Apparently an elite uncle beats the father by 0.04 and never shuts up about it.
⚖️ TRES 132.16 — HERM 120.46
GREAT EXPECTATIONS
Herm entered the season very clear about the plan.
This was not a tank.
This was an aggressive rebuild.
Get younger. Add picks. Move aging veterans. Turn the thing around quickly.
Herm also made another thing clear:
He hates losing.
That second part has become inconvenient.
Herm is now 1–4 and has lost three straight.
He has legitimate grievances. His injury list has been absurd. He recently grabbed the mic and rattled off:
Bowers. Kyler. Darnold. Lamar. Coker. Harvey.
All missed games.
Then he asked PreachBot to fix his players.
Unfortunately:
PreachBot is an analytics platform, not UAMS.
The injuries are real. The frustration is real.
So is 1–4.
The good news for Herm is that he still owns his future and can continue steering the rebuild.
The bad news is that the “quick” part is getting increasingly difficult to explain.
And next week?
He gets Uncle Chabby.
That feels medically unnecessary.
🚛 BRU 138.18 — HOULE 104.22
THE BIG RIG HAS ENTERED THE BASEMENT
Two weeks ago, Houle beat Preach.
Shortly afterward, he began wondering aloud whether the ceiling might be a championship.
That escalated quickly.
Houle is now 1–4.
And unlike Herm, there is a much more painful detail buried underneath the record:
Houle does not own his 2027 first-round pick.
Bru does.
So every Houle loss has two effects:
Houle moves closer to the Sewer.
And Bru’s future draft asset gets better.
That is a brutal arrangement.
Herm can look at 1–4 and tell himself that at least the rebuilding process may eventually produce premium draft capital.
Houle looks at 1–4 and realizes he is improving someone else’s draft position.
This week, Houle takes the presser.
There should be questions.
A few weeks ago we were discussing the ceiling.
Now we need to discuss the foundation.
📉 THE BASEMENT
For the first month, Shy City had no real separation.
That changed.
4–1
Drag
BDR
3–2
Preach
Beans
Chabby
2–3
Bug
Bru
Tres
1–4
Herm
Houle
This is still a compressed league.
Nobody is buried beyond recovery.
But for the first time this season, there is a clear top, a crowded middle, and two teams staring up from underneath everyone else.
The funniest part is how quickly the narratives changed.
Houle went from giant-killer to basement tenant.
Herm went from aggressive-rebuild optimism to submitting medical evidence.
Chabby went from injury apocalypse to Uncle Chabby.
BDR went from puking into a bucket to scoring 203.
Fantasy football remains an extremely dignified activity.
👑 IRON THRONE INDEX // AFTER WEEK 5
THE MODEL HAS A NEW FAVORITE
The Week 5 recalibration is complete.
And the throne has opinions.
Beans lost by 0.04 points and somehow emerged as the Belt favorite.
🏆 BELT FAVORITE
Beans — 28.3%
🎟️ PLAYOFF FAVORITE
Gator — 98.1%
🍽️ ACT FAVORITE
Houle — 54.3%
That Houle number deserves a moment.
Two weeks ago: championship ceiling.
Today: the model’s favorite dinner reservation.
The Big Rig has officially changed destinations.
🤖 PREACHBOT OWES DRAG AN APOLOGY
Drag opened the season with 0.04% Belt odds.
Zero point zero four.
He is now 4–1 and sitting at 14.3%.
That is not a rounding error.
That is PreachBot getting dragged behind the shed by the same man who just put 181 on Preach.
The model missed.
Badly.
The receipts remain public.
👶 THE THRONE IS NOT BUYING UNCLE CHABBY YET
Chabby opened the year with 27.66% championship odds.
Today?
4.5%.
He is 3–2.
He is talking more shit.
He has established himself as Uncle Chabby.
He has won the microphone.
The throne remains unconvinced.
⚖️ HERM’S WEEKLY APPEAL
1–4.
93.0% Sewer probability.
31.5% ACT risk.
0.2% Belt odds.
The Court acknowledges the injuries.
The Court recognizes that the father of three is simply trying to feed his family.
The Court also recognizes that he is 1–4.
Appeal denied.
🇺🇸 PREACHBOT STILL BELIEVES IN PREACH
Despite getting his ass kicked in New Orleans, Preach still carries:
92.6% playoff odds
16.8% Belt odds
PreachBot remains bullish on Preach.
Preach’s Week 5 lineup decisions remain significantly less bullish on Preach.
🎓 DRAFTMASTA UPDATE
Bug spent part of the week reminding everyone that he is, in fact, the DraftMasta.
He also called himself clairvoyant.
Herm then asked PreachBot what “clairvoyant” means.
The intellectual renaissance continues.
Bug’s Week 5 contribution to the scoreboard:
132.86 points and a 70-point loss.
The DraftMasta remains an excellent historian of draft classes.
The championship-building portion of the résumé remains under peer review.
No further comment at this time.
🤖 PREACHBOT INTERNAL INVESTIGATION
PreachBot is expected to conduct a complete review of Week 5 decision-making.
- emotional attachment to seeing Shough live
- possible intoxication by the atmosphere of the Superdome
- failure to separate Vikings fandom from roster management
- general operator misconduct
PreachBot maintains that he is an independent entity.
He also recognizes that Preach has never won the league.
Both parties agree this is supposed to be the year that changes.
Week 5 did not help the case.
👑 THE STATE OF THE REALM
Last week, the story was parity.
This week, the story is pressure.
BDR and Drag finally created some separation.
Preach, Beans and Chabby are one bad week from dropping straight back into the crowd.
Bug, Bru and Tres are one good week from rejoining them.
Herm and Houle are already operating with significantly less margin for error.
And Week 6 gives us exactly what the league needs:
BDR vs PREACH
The man who just scored 203.52 against the man who just got humiliated in New Orleans.
The puke bucket versus PreachBot.
Gator is fully recovered.
Preach has been warned.
Nine regular-season weeks remain.
The basement is open.
Nobody wants another roommate.
